Gestures and hand signals.

I have found a technique that really works when teaching Isabella maths. I use gestures.

When teaching division, I put my hands together as if in prayer then split them and this helps Isabella understand dividing. When working through multiplication, I make a circle with my hands when we reach the 12 x of anything to show it is the whole, the end of the table. Half way through when something is x6 I do a gesture that represents half way through. It just gives Isabella an understanding of fractions and division and mulitplication altogether and how they fit.
